woman-listening

Leaks are fairly common to encocunter at least once while living in a home. That doesn’t mean that they are appreciated though!

Our team provides leak detection in Columbia, SC to help you find any leaks so that you can get them patched quickly. But most people aren’t going to bother with leak detection unless they think that they may actually have one.

We get it! And we want to help with that too. Here are some of the warning signs that you can watch for to figure out if you may have a leak that needs to be found and fixed.

5 Signs That You May Have a Leak

If you notice any of these warning signs, you’ll want to reach out to us forl leak detection and repair.

  1. The sound of running water: Take a moment to walk around your home and listen carefully. Are you hearing water running through your pipes even though you know that no water-based plumbing appliances aren’t in use? If so, this may be a sign of a leak somewhere in the pipes.
  2. Overactive water meter: Maybe you can’t hear water running in the house but your water meter is behaving like someone has left a faucet trickling. This means you likely have a leak somewhere–if you can’t hear it, there is a chance you actually have a slab leak.
  3. Weak water pressure: You go to flush the toilet and notice that it can barely finish filling up. Or perhaps you are noticing that you have a faucet that is barely producing any water. These are likely signs of a leak creating problems for you by allowing the water you need to escape somewhere in the walls or under the floor of your home.
  4. High water bills: Take a look at your water bills from the past few months. Are they relatively similar or are you noticing a gradual (or severe) increase in those monthly dues, you should have a plumber check your home for a leak.
  5. Staining or water marks: This is one of the most obvious if it is in plain sight. Those stains on the ceiling that have been growing or noticing water marks on the wall that become more apparent shouldn’t be ignored. These water marks or stains are likely to be followed by mold or mildew or may even be paired with puddling in the near future.

Picking up on these signs should prompt a call to a trained plumber. This individual should be able to find the location of the leak and provide prompt repairs.
