Call Us if Your AC Is Making Strange Sounds

When you live in South Carolina, where the only thing more intense than the heat, sometimes, is the humidity, you really need to know that your air conditioning system is going to be there for you when you need it most. If your air conditioner is making loud, unfamiliar sounds, then, you should contact us right away. These could be signs of serious problems, existing already or in development.

We know that it’s easy to ignore air conditioning problems when your system is still operational. However, the wear and tear that you may be putting on your system can mean that it won’t be operational much longer if you continue to ignore these sounds. When AC repairs in Columbia, SC are necessary, ours are the technicians to work with.

If your air conditioner is hissing at you, there is likely a leak of some sort in your system. If you’re sitting in the living room running your AC, and you hear hissing, it could be that you have air leaks in your ductwork. This can waste a lot of energy, very quickly. You could also have a refrigerant leak in your system, and what you are hearing is the sound of the gas leaking out of small holes.

Banging and clanging sounds are fairly common when it comes to this issue, and are also pretty easy to notice. You may have a loose component in your system that is banging against other components, putting them and itself at risk. You may also have debris of some sort in the outdoor unit that is getting caught in the fan.

Finally, keep your ears open for clicking sounds, as well. If you hear your system clicking, you could have an electrical problem on your hands. This could be a sign of failing capacitors, or that you have relay issues. Whatever the case, you’ll want to resolve the problem as soon as possible.
